Washington, D.C – Congresswoman Schwartz announced today that she will be hosting a major event this Veterans Day, November 12, to honor Pennsylvania veterans for their service. Schwartz will also be thanking organizations, schools, and individuals who volunteered their time to record the stories and personal experiences of local veterans through participation in the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress. The Veterans History Project is a national effort to preserve the experiences of our war veterans, from World War I to the present day Iraq War, as well as the civilians who supported them.
Organizations being recognized during the ceremony for their volunteer service include:
- George Washington High School
- The Peak Center
- Abington Senior High School
- Upper Dublin High School
- Philadelphia-Montgomery Christian Academy
Congresswoman Schwartz extends a special invitation to all local veterans and their families to attend this event. In addition, the public is encouraged to attend and join with Congresswoman Schwartz in thanking our local veterans for their service.
Information on how organizations and individuals can become involved with the Veterans History Project will be available at this event.
