Philadelphia, PA – Many eligible retirees and disabled veterans who did not receive an economic stimulus payment (ESP) in 2008 have a second chance to obtain the ESP in 2009 as a Recovery Rebate Credit on a 2008 federal tax return.
In an effort to ensure that potentially eligible constituents who generally do not have an Individual Income Tax Return filing requirement apply for this credit, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz will host office hours with a representative from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS staffer can provide assistance and answer questions from retirees and disabled veterans who did not obtain an economic stimulus payment last year, but who may be eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit.
The IRS staffer will be at Schwartz’s Philadelphia district office from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3 and Tuesday, February 17, and at Schwartz’s Montgomery County district office from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4.
For more information, constituents should call Schwartz’s Montgomery County district office at 215-517-6572 or her Philadelphia district office at 215-335-3355.
