Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz announced today that Northeast Philadelphia Airport will receive $700,000 to make improvements to the airport’s runway. The funds are part of economic recovery efforts. Schwartz has been successful in ensuring that the city and the region have received millions of dollars to help strengthen the local economy.
“Northeast Philadelphia Airport is an asset to the community and continuing to invest in infrastructure projects is critical to our local and national economic recovery,” Schwartz said. “This funding will enhance aviation safety measures, create good paying jobs, and make needed repairs to better serve the passengers.”
Last year, the Northeast Philadelphia Airport received $1 million to rehabilitate a taxiway. Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, about 3,400 airports around the country are eligible to receive funding. The Philadelphia International Airport has received $5 million to make safety improvements, as well as other Pennsylvania airports.
