Washington, D.C. – On Saturday, September 17^th, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz served as Grand Marshall at the Tacony History Day Parade. This year’s celebration marked the 20^th anniversary of the event, a proud milestone for the neighborhood. Schwartz received a plaque, thanking her for her commitment to Tacony and its residents.

“I am honored to have been chosen to help mark this momentous occasion,” Schwartz said. “Tacony is a vibrant, historically rich community, which I have been honored to represent in Congress.”

The parade began at 11 a.m. and travelled past several of the area’s historic places. At 12 p.m. Schwartz announced the official kick-off of celebrations at the Disston Recreation Center. Some of the festivities included several cultural exhibits, live music, games, children’s amusement rides, and a pie-eating contest.
