SCHWARTZ TO ANNOUNCE LOCAL APPOINTMENTS

TO NATION’S MILITARY ACADEMIES

 

 

This Saturday, June 19th, U.S. Representative Schwartz will formally announce the appointments of 8 students from the 13th Congressional District to our nation's military academies. Students received appointments to the United States Naval Academy, United States Military Academy and the United States Air Force Academy.

 

Schwartz will present each of the students with a proclamation offering her congratulations on their appointment, as well as an American flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol. Following the official announcement, a reception will be held in honor of the students.

Biographical Information of Student Appointees

 

Yo Han Bae resides in Horsham and graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 2009. He was the president of his lass and served on Student Council. He also participated in swimming and track at his school. In addition to school activities, he was also president of a youth group at his church. Yo Han recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School and received a fully-qualified offer to the United States Naval Academy.

 

Hunter Beck resides in Lafayette Hill and attends William Penn Charter School.  During his senior year at William Penn Charter School, Hunter took on an impressive workload, consisting of advanced topics in Spanish, Statistics, Calculus, Oceanography, Anatomy, Economics and American Foreign Policy. He also participates in Squash at his high school. Hunter will be attending the United States Naval Academy.

 

Robert Davies resides in Huntingdon Valley and attends Lower Moreland High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and serves on his schools Science Club. He is also Captain of the Finance Committee for his school’s Dance Marathon. Robert also participates in track and field, and cross country. Robert will be attending the United States Naval Academy.

 

John Founds resides in Huntingdon Valley and attends Lower Moreland High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in his school’s Debate Club. He also participates in track, football, and wrestling. John will be attending the United States Naval Academy.

 

Emily Lewis resides in Harleysville and attends Souderton Area High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and his editor of her school newspaper. Emily also participates in her school’s water polo team. Emily will be attending the United States Military Academy.

 

Kellen Lewis resides in Lansdale and graduated from North Penn High School in 2009. During his high school career, Kellen participated in Student Council. He also participated in football and track. Kellen recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy’s Foundation Program and received a fully-qualified offer to the United States Naval Academy.

 

Vincent McPeak resides in Hatboro and attends Upper Moreland High School.  He is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in his school’s band/chorus. He also participates in track and tennis at Upper Moreland High School. Vincent will be attending the United States Air Force Academy.

 

Christopher Smith resides in North Wales and attends the Devon Preparatory School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in Student Council. He participates in his school’s soccer, baseball and basketball teams.  Christopher is also a member of his school’s Academic Challenge Team and he is an attorney on their Mock Trial Team. Christopher will be attending the United States Military Academy.
