Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz issued the following statement today on President Obama’s proposal for health care reform.

 “The proposal released by President Obama today brings us one step closer to providing quality, affordable health care for all Americans and builds on the ideas Congress has been working on for the past year. I look forward to working with President Obama and my colleagues in Congress as we work to meet our commitment to American families by passing health care reform.

“The President’s plan will make health insurance more affordable for middle class families, establishes new protections for consumers against insurance rate hikes, prohibits insurance companies from discriminating against individuals with pre-existing conditions, and makes prescription drugs more affordable for Medicare beneficiaries.”
