Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz (PA-13), vice chair of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement concerning President Obama’s budget.
“The President’s budget proposal released today is an encouraging first step on our nation’s path to fiscal responsibility. I am pleased that President Obama is looking closely at eliminating programs that do not work, or are duplicative, while also making the investments required to ensure our nation is strong. “As vice-chair of the House Budget Committee, I will continue to work with the Administration and the Congressional leadership to ensure we craft a budget that reduces our deficit and adheres to-pay-as-you-go budgeting. After eight years of budgets that did not reflect the priorities of the American people, the Congress and the Administration are in the first months of restoring confidence that their government will be responsible with taxpayer dollars.”
