| Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Allyson Y. Schwartz released the following statement today concerning the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina striking the Gulf Coast.
"One year ago Hurricane Katrina destroyed a great American region and left countless families homeless and jobless. It is clear that the Bush Administration failed our country in the immediate days following the hurricane, and it is just as clear that they - a year after the storm – are still failing Americans.
“The record of the Bush Administration is marked by empty, unfulfilled promises. From Hurricane Katrina to the war on terror to the war in Iraq, this Administration has made lofty pledges to strengthen and secure America, but they have consistently failed to deliver on their promises.
“It is time to meet our promises and to move our country in a new direction.”
