Philadelphia Congressional Delegation Holds Congressional Field Hearing on Greening Philadelphia and America’s Cities

Washington, D.C. - On Monday, May 18, U.S. Reps. Schwartz, Brady, and Fattah will host a congressional field hearing here in Philadelphia to highlight the kinds of green policies that can enhance the livability of dense urban areas, bring new, green-collar jobs to our communities, and improve water and air quality. Mayor Nutter is scheduled to make remarks at the hearing.

Experts at the field hearing will testify on how taking advantage of every opportunity and resource in implementing greener, more natural, infrastructure can significantly improve the economic standing of communities.  The hearing will discuss potential opportunities for Congress to make the successes of Philadelphia replicable in other cities and towns.

U.S. Rep. Schwartz’s landmark bill, the Green Communities Act, a forward-thing plan to assist cities in planning, designing, and implementing green infrastructure strategies, will be a key focus of the Congressional field hearing.
