	Statement of U.S. Rep. Schwartz regarding the death of muammar al-qadhafi

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz (PA-13), a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, released the following statement today regarding the death of the former leader of Libya, Col. Muammar al-Qadhafi.

“Muammar al-Qadhafi was a brutal dictator who was directly responsible for the death of American citizens and other innocent civilians around the world. Today’s news of his capture and death marks a critical turning point as the people of Libya strive for a democratic state. We can take pride in President Obama’s leadership in support of the Libyan rebels efforts to remove this oppressive dictator as a threat to his own people and to America and our allies."
