REPRESENTATIVE SCHWARTZ STATEMENT ON CONTINUING RESOLUTION

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Allyson Schwartz joined House Democrats today in passing a continuing resolution that puts the nation’s fiscal house in order and funds vital national interests.

“Our budget plan focuses on the priorities of American families.  Today we acted to ensure 325,000 veterans receive the health care we promised them.  We increased the opportunity of 5.3 million students to pay for a college education and we improved our ability to defend the homeland by increasing the number of intelligence analysts – who serve as our eyes and ears in the fight against terror.”  Rep. Schwartz said.

“Today Democrats kept our pledge to the American people. We made fiscally tough decisions and began to clean up the budget mess created by the reckless borrow and spend policies of the Republicans” added Rep. Schwartz.

Rep. Schwartz stressed, “The American people voted for a new direction and I am pleased that in our first month in the Majority we have delivered on that promise.  We have achieved real bipartisan results for the American people - we restored fiscal responsibility, strengthened our national security, and voted to put our nation on a real path to energy independence.”

“These accomplishments demonstrate to the American people that the new Democratic Majority is committed to real and lasting results for the American people.”
