Congresswoman Schwartz Announces

Kick Off of 2006 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. - This year marks the 25^th anniversary of the Congressional Art Competition, a contest in which students across the United States compete to have their art work displayed in the United States Capitol for one year. Locally, U.S. Rep. Allyson Y. Schwartz is sponsoring the competition for high school students of the 13^th Congressional District.

“Philadelphia and Montgomery County are home to many creative and talented students, and I hope that local student artists take advantage of this great opportunity,” said U.S. Rep. Schwartz.

Contest participants must work with their local school district, with the exception of home schooled students, in order to participate. Students interested in participating should encourage their schools to sign up for the competition.

Interested high schools should contact Schwartz’s district office at 215-517-6572 for more information or to receive the eligibility guidelines and copies of entry applications.

Students need to submit their entry form by April 20, with the art work due on April 25. The winning art entry will be announced at a reception on May 1.
