Congresswoman Schwartz Announces
2009 Congressional Art Competition Winner  
46 Philadelphia and Montgomery County Students
Competed in Prestigious Contest
 
Jenkintown, PA – Earlier today at a reception and art showcase, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz announced the winner and honorable mentions of this year’s 13th District Congressional Art Competition. 46 Philadelphia and Montgomery County high students competed locally in the competition sponsored by Congresswoman Schwartz. Nationally, thousands of U.S. high school students compete each year in this prestigious contest.

The first prize was awarded to Casey Bowne of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School for her photograph “I’ve Got the Whole World in My Hands.” Her artwork will be on display for one year in the U.S. Capitol Building.

“The students who submitted work to this year’s Congressional Art Competition displayed tremendous talent and creativity and it was not an easy decision for the judges to select one winner,” said Congresswoman Schwartz.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Jacob Malone, a student at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School; Sarah Pinchock, a student at Mount Saint Joseph Academy; and Jonathan Price, a student at Father Judge High School.

Schwartz hosted a reception and award ceremony on Sunday, May 3rd at The Brownstone Schoolhouse at Sunrise Senior Living of Abington in celebration of the students.
