Congresswoman Schwartz Announces 2008 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. – 2008 marks the 27th anniversary of the Congressional Art Competition, a prestigious contest in which students across the United States compete to have their artwork displayed in the United States Capitol for one year. Locally, Congresswoman Schwartz is sponsoring the competition for high school students of the 13th Congressional District.

“I am very proud of the talented students who have submitted their outstanding artwork in the past three competitions. I have enjoyed showcasing their creativity at the reception, in my district offices, and at the Capitol; and I encourage all local students to share their artistic flair and talent by entering this year’s competition,” said Congresswoman Schwartz.

Congresswoman Schwartz’s website - www.house.gov/schwartz  - features a Congressional Art Competition page, which provides information and forms. In addition, information packets containing Guidelines for Entries, Student/Information Release Forms, and Instructions for Submitting and Delivering Student Artwork are available by contacting Jane Murray, field representative, at Congresswoman Schwartz’s Montgomery County district office at 215-517-6572. Students interested in participating should work with their high school art department to submit artwork.

Participating students must submit their Student Information/Release Form by April 18, 2008 to participate, with artwork due by April 28, 2008. Participating student artists will be recognized at a special showcase and reception for students, families, and teachers hosted by Congresswoman Schwartz at the Brownstone Schoolhouse at Sunrise Senior Living of Abington on May 4, 2008.
