This Sunday, June 1 U.S. Representative Allyson Schwartz will formally announce the appointments of ten students from the 13th Congressional District to our nation's military academies. Students received appointments to the United States Naval Academy, United States Military Academy, United States Merchant Marine Academy, Air Force Academy Preparatory School, and the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
Schwartz will present each of the students with a proclamation offering congratulations on their appointment, as well as an American flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol. Following the official announcement, a reception will be held in honor of the students.

Biographical Information of Student Appointees
Jared Teichman resides in Blue Bell and attends Germantown Academy High School. His major subjects of interest are math and science, although he has a special interest in literature of the 1920’s. Jared is the captain of his high school tennis team. Jared has been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy.
William Dorner resides in Lansdale and attends Chestnut Hill Academy High School. He has participated in a variety of activities, including junior varsity baseball and the multicultural student association. William is an honor roll student, and has taken Advanced Placement courses in physics and U.S government. William has been appointed to West Point Military Academy.
Charles Safarowic is a resident of Dresher and attends Upper Dublin High School. Captain of his high school wrestling team, he has also played football since the first grade. Charles has been appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Brittany Love resides in Ambler and attends Wissahickon High School. She loves participating in physical activities, especially water activities such as snorkeling and scuba diving. Brittany plays on her high school field hockey and lacrosse teams. With a special interest in Spanish, Brittany has taken Spanish honors courses and plans to continue to expand her knowledge of the language. Brittany has been appointed to the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
Bernard D. Crandley lives in Ambler and attends Hatboro Horsham High School. Bernard has participated in high school varsity wrestling and junior varsity cross county tack. He has served on the Student Assistance Program as a senior mentor and peer mediator. Bernard has received various awards during his Hatboro Horsham High School career including Rookie of the Year, All-League, All-Star, and Athlete of the Week. Bernard recently graduated from Naval Academy Preparatory School and has received a fully qualified offer to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Daniel Almendrales resides in Harleysville and attends Lansdale Catholic High School. Daniel played on his high school soccer, lacrosse and tennis teams. He has participated on student council and the chess club. Daniel was on the honor roll and took Latin, algebra, and history Advanced Placement courses. Daniel has been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Todd Domanski resides in Lafayette Hill and attends La Salle College High School. Todd has been swimming for most of his life, participating in local swim clubs and on his high school swim team. Todd hopes to pursue a college major in either economics or science. Todd has been appointed to West Point Military Academy.
Francis J. Pierson resides in Lansdale and attends La Salle College High School. He is interested in math and science, with a special love for logic and analytical problem solving. Francis plays high school basketball and baseball, and volunteers with a number of different community programs. Francis has been appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Stephen Williams resides in Willow Grove and attends Upper Moreland High School. Stephen participates in several high school teams, including cross country, football and bowling. Stephen is a member of the National Honor Society and serves on student council. Stephen will be attending the Air Force Academy Preparatory School.
Yale Minn resides in Jenkintown and attends Abington Senior High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and serves on student council. He is the sports editor of his high school newspaper, and participates in the peer mediation club and track team. He is the founder of the organization Friends Backpacking across Europe. Yale will be attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
